Americans for Clean Aviation Fuels is a diverse coalition of the largest industrial sectors in America, from farmers to fuel producers and aviation to agribusiness. We are focused on promoting the economic benefits of building a robust U.S. market for clean aviation fuels (CAFs). In doing so, CAFs will become an engine to power the American economy by creating jobs in the heartland while reducing emissions in the aviation sector.
Today CAFs encompass the universe of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), which are biofuels or synthetic fuels derived from renewable biomass feedstocks, waste resources, and renewable energy resources as well as captured carbon and hydrogen.
Today they are the most promising, in-production and scalable lever to accelerate progress toward a net zero future. Unfortunately, there aren’t enough CAFs in the world right now to fuel the aviation industry for even a single week.
Working together, ACAF will drive national efforts to advance policies that drive investment in these American-grown feedstocks – benefitting the American economy, farmers and growers, the environment, and national security.
Clean aviation fuels or CAFs provide an environmentally sound alternative to using conventional jet fuel by significantly reducing lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Building a market for CAFs however has benefits that reach far beyond their environmental footprint. CAFs can become the fuel that helps power America’s economic engine by creating good-paying jobs in the agricultural, feedstock production, construction and manufacturing sectors, particularly as the on-road fuel market increasingly turns to electrification. By using these renewable resources from American farmers and energy producers to scale CAFs, we will also reduce U.S. reliance on foreign energy sources and increase our global industrial competitiveness.
